10. Toyota Yaris I TS (2001 - 2006)

Does a Yaris from the early 2000s with more than 100 horsepower sound familiar? Yes, it does exist. This little Japanese monster looks so ordinary that with only a small TS logo on the front grill, you can pass unnoticed in the mirrors of other drivers, before passing them of course.

9. Opel Corsa A GSi (1988 - 1993)

This German car of 800kg (drum roll) for 100 horsepower is not the most famous of its generation. However, it remains a good alternative to the 205 GTI: cheap and quite reliable. It's a pity that it lacks a bit of power all the same.

8. Fiat Uno Turbo I.E (1985 - 1993)

If you don't have any curves on your road, then don't hesitate with this Uno. Be careful with its chassis though, which often starts to get out of hand when cornering. Nevertheless, it has the advantage of being a discreet and (relatively) powerful car.

7. Volkswagen Lupo GTi (2000 - 2002)

Here is the most unexpected of this ranking. Small, banal, similar to both a Golf and a Polo, the Lupo doesn't really have a well-defined style. However, it has nothing to envy to its competitors because the 125 horsepower of this little matchbox can explode, once in the right hands. Wouldn't this be the worthy heir of the Golf I GTI?

6. Citroën AX GT (1987 - 1994)

A Grand Touring car ready to drive on the highways, which car do you think of? Certainly not a Citroën AX GT. It's not the most powerful car in this ranking with only 85 hp, but it has the right to this position thanks to its agility and its ability to attack the curves without fear.

5. Renault Clio 16S (1991 - 1996)

A nice little sound in a small car well inserted among the youngtimers, what could be better. This 140hp Renault will not leave anyone indifferent with its raging engine and its very light weight, and yet, few people will know the difference with an ordinary Clio.

4. Peugeot 206 RC (2003 - 2007)

Even if it is called GTI 180 abroad, it can remain quite discreet in France with its name and a style that remains quite common. It's just a 206, the ignorant will think. The others will know that it is one of the most desirable machines from Sochaux. 177 horsepower in a city car weighing barely a ton is a recipe that always works.

3. Ford Fiesta XR2i (1989 - 1995)

The Fiesta is the distant cousin of the Peugeot 205 GTI: an almost similar look with an almost identical rear and lights. On the engine side, Ford is switching to fuel injection. Although the power is a little lower than the other GTIs, the Yankee bomb is still well positioned.

2. Renault Super 5 GT Turbo (1985 - 1991)

Max max super max, max, super supercinq... If you know Formula 1 you know the rest. Speaking of Formula 1, this little Renault is close to it, halfway between the Supercinq and the Renault 5 Turbo, it's a real blast. In our eyes, it is a very big customer for the 205 GTI.

1. Citroën Saxo VTS 16V (1996 - 2003)

As loud as a saxophone (drum roll again), this product adorned with its two chevrons is fully loaded, with the added bonus of being lightweight. Worthy heir of the Citroën AX, it has already surprised many on the left lane, or in the mirrors. Here is the best competitor of the 205, turn right, the Saxo is coming.
