This Mercedes 190 E 2.3-16 of French origin was acquired by the current seller 1.5 years ago for collection purposes and has been driven less than 500 kilometers. A lot of mechanical work has been done and the car has 137,000 km on the odometer although this mileage cannot be verified.

On the outside, this 2.3-16 is in average condition. The original paint lacks shine and shows multiple marks of use: chips on the front, stains on the roof and the rear trunk, scratches on the fenders and doors. The exterior plastics show some tarnishing due to the sun, especially on the door handles and mirrors. The trunk rail is broken as well as the rear bumper skirt at the exhaust. The joints are in good condition. The rear lights have some cracks while the front lights and indicators are in good condition.

The interior is in average condition. The upholstery is in good condition, showing no scratches or tears. A modern car radio is the only part that differs from the original. The gear knob has been replaced in the past and does not show the correct shift pattern. The steering wheel is very weathered, and the carpets are in poor condition. The door panels are in very fair condition, showing peeling and repair marks. The headliner is in average condition, with sun distortion on the passenger sun visor. The button pictograms are worn, and the plastic end cap on the ventilation control lever is missing. The on-board equipment and instrumentation are functioning properly with the exception of the fuel gauge.

The mechanics of this 190 E are in excellent condition. The owner has recently done an important revision. A parts invoice is available in the gallery. The 4 cylinder 2.3l cast iron 16 valves aluminum block developed 185hp when it left the factory. The engine runs well without any abnormal noise. The 5-speed reverse 1st gearbox shifts and locks up well in all gears. However, the gearshift shows some play in neutral (see video).

The 4 original rims are in very average condition, showing scratches and faded paint but no dents or warping. The 4 tires are from 2003. The front discs and pads have been replaced and the braking is described as working normally, without any imbalance. The 2 front shocks are new. The front suspension wishbones have been replaced. The steering does not show any abnormal play and the road handling is described as excellent.
