The item presented is a Pratt & Whitney type Wasp Jr. R-985-AN-14B (see manufacturer's plate gallery). The seller indicates that the engine is not in working order.

The "Wasp Jr. R-985" was the third type of engine designed by Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, after the "Wasp R-1340" and the "Hornet R-1690", which were all 9-cylinder engines. More than 39,000 were produced between 1929 and 1953.

The "Wasp Jr." offers an engine with less power and a smaller size than the "Wasp", yet technically close.
First certified in January 1930 at 224 kW (300 hp), the Wasp Jr. was designed for light transport, sport aircraft and helicopters.

Powering a wide variety and number of well-known military and commercial aircraft such as the de Havilland Beaver and the Lockheed Electra.
