On the outside, this Citroën Ami 8 is in very bad condition. The paint is dull and oxidized, and perforating rust is present on the whole body. Poor quality repairs have also been done in many places. The car is however complete, retaining grills, badges, bumpers and other exterior accessories. The seller also indicates that the chassis is in good condition.
The interior is also in very poor condition. The fabric seats show tears and snags and there is little of the original carpeting left. The steering wheel has been covered with anti-skid tape, which is in poor condition. All four door panels are present, as well as the handles and armrests. The on-board instrumentation works properly. The ventilation has not been tested.
The 602cc twin-cylinder engine with a double-barrel carburetor developed 32 hp when it left the factory. The engine was replaced in 1984 with a new one. The engine runs well, starts well, holds its idle and revs up without clutching. The 4 speed manual transmission works well and the gears shift and lock up well.
The car retains its five original sheet metal rims. The tires are worn and need to be replaced. The car brakes and makes no abnormal noise when doing so. The car drives straight and the steering does not show too much play.
The seller is a professional located in France at La Chapelle-en-Serval (60520) and accepts visits.
