The Porsche 911 992 Dakar uses the same powertrain as the 911 992 GTS equipped with the Rallye Design Package. The Rallye Design Package is a visual reproduction of the Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 4x4 (953) which won the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally. The specific colour of the 953 has been taken up and interpreted on the outside by a combination of two-tone paint and a set of decals, in tribute to the rally's history.
