This BMW 520/6 e12 was purchased by the seller in August 2017. The seller has carried out extensive restoration work but does not wish to continue. The car is equipped with a 3.3-litre 633i engine with twin carburettors, and the seller is providing all the parts needed to restore the original 2-litre engine, as well as numerous other parts to continue the restoration work.
Externally, this 520/6 presents very well thanks to a bodywork free of dents and well-preserved original paintwork, with the exception of the bonnet, which has just been repainted. The areas of corrosion are detailed in the gallery. The windscreen bay shows bubbles and paint chips caused by corrosion, as do the lower right and left rear doors. The rocker panels also show corrosion, particularly at the front right. The seller states that they are providing a large batch of parts, including doors, windows, rear window, etc., which can be used for restoration.
The interior is in superb condition. The beige imitation leather upholstery shows no tears, snags or sagging. The door panels are also in superb condition. The plastics and dashboard trim are in excellent condition. The carpets and headliner are also very well preserved. The car is equipped with an optional sunroof.
The car is equipped with a 3.3-litre inline 6-cylinder engine from a BMW 633i, which originally produced 193 bhp and is equipped here with two carburettors. The seller states that the mechanics are in perfect working order, although the engine runs a little rich and adjustment is recommended. The original 4-speed manual gearbox works very well and the clutch transmitter and receiver have been replaced. The rear axle is original. The seller states that they will provide an original 2.0-litre 130hp engine as well as everything needed to install it: cradle, gauges, air box, drive shaft, wiring harness, etc. This engine has many new parts, including the timing belt and ignition coil. An additional 4-speed manual gearbox is provided but needs to be serviced or rebuilt.
The four BBS Mahle rims have been refurbished and are in mint condition. They are also fitted with new Uniroyal tyres. The rear brakes have been refurbished (cylinders and drum linings) and the front brakes have been fitted with two new calipers.
The seller is a private individual located in Livry-Gargan and accepts viewings during the sale. However, he notes that although the car is in perfect working order, it is not authorised to be driven in its current state due to the engine change.
