Lotus Elise S1

"Light is Right": this is what Lotus founder Colin Chapman said, and it sums up the spirit of his cars perfectly. The Lotus S1 not only saved Lotus from bankruptcy, but also called to order many of the gentrified sports cars of its time, which were unable to keep up with this small car on the more winding roads. BMW M3 3.0 e36

The M3 has become a real legend and it is possible to buy the 2nd version for about 20.000 €. Developed to compete with the C36 and C43 AMG, the M3 is a concentrate of what the Bavarian manufacturer does best: a raging in-line 6, an aggressive look and a very playful road behaviour! With a budget of €20,000, you'll have to make do with the 1st phase with its 3-liter 286 hp, or with a 3.2 (Phase 2) with a few expenses to be expected.

Renault Clio Williams

As a tribute to the success of the Williams team and in order to homologate the Clio in Rallye, Renault has once again demonstrated its talents when it comes to building a small bomb. Initially planned for 3,800 units, Renault has revised its plans in view of the success of the Williams. You will therefore find on the second hand market numbered models (the first 3800 examples) and "the rest" of the production. Of course, the numbered models are more prized in collections. And yet, there is almost no difference!
Today it is possible to acquire a numbered copy in very good condition for 20.000 €. Otherwise, "unnumbered" copies can be found in very good condition for about 15.000 €.

Porsche 996 Carrera 3.4

The 996 is a true Porsche at a bargain price. Initiator of the water-cooled engines in the 911 lineage, it is sometimes shunned by the "purists". And yet, it has nothing to envy to its small and big sisters! Offering more than adequate performance, the 996 shines above all in its versatility.
On the reliability side, the black spot of the 996 3.4 is the famous intermediate shaft bearing (IMS). Even if this problem is much talked about, many 996s have been made more reliable. Moreover, when the IMS has never been changed and the vehicle has reached a high mileage, there is little reason to worry.

BMW 8 series

The 8 series is a monument of the Bavarian brand. So much so that BMW recently decided to revive it. A real technological showcase, we must admit that this huge coupe with a timeless look is quite impressive. For a budget of 20.000 €, we recommend the more sensible 840ci (V8, 286hp) with manual gearbox. It is possible to buy a V12 850i for a little more than 20.000 €, but expect to deal with some V12 quirks and other electronic problems...
