This 1972 "Baja Rally Raid" Beetle has been fully restored and prepared by a Porsche/Volkswagen professional. Six months of work were required, at a cost of €14,000 (invoices and records available). This VW has participated in two rally raids: Bab el Raid and the historic Paris Dakar rally. Its vintage and preparation allow it to compete in rallies such as Paris-Beijing, Bab el Raid and the Rallye des Pionniers (historic Paris Dakar rally). It has 36,000 km on the clock, although this mileage no longer matches since the restoration.

Externally, this Cox is in excellent condition. The matt blue paintwork, reminiscent of "Gulf", looks great, although it does have a few minor stone chips and scratches. During its preparation in 2012, the car was completely stripped down, chassis and bodywork included, and treated. This Beetle is therefore rust-free, with the exception of one spot on the driver's door. The front and rear bonnets are made of fibreglass. The headlights are in perfect condition and the high beam lights are functional.

Inside, the two bucket seats are in perfect condition and all the instruments are said to be working normally, although the gauges are currently disconnected because they are noisy. A Terratrip 202+ GPS, a cigarette lighter and a fire extinguisher have been installed. The car is equipped with a removable 4-point roll cage.

On the mechanical side, the 1600cc flat-four engine with dual intake develops around 80hp. It has been reinforced with a liner and piston kit. A Bocart carburettor has been installed, as well as electronic ignition. The seller states that the battery, fuel pump and spark plugs are new. The engine and gearbox have just been serviced.

In terms of running gear, this Cox has been fitted with four Koni shock absorbers. It has four FEDIMA road-approved tyres (50% off-road, 50% on-road) and a spare tyre. The seller says that this Beetle performs very well on sand dunes.

The car can be viewed in France at La Chapelle en Serval (60), and the seller welcomes visits. This Beetle is being sold with a valid French registration document, and a roadworthiness test will be carried out before the sale.
The seller wished to set a reserve price.
