1960s
For many, the 60s were also a golden age in Europe.
It was a decade in which the motor car came to symbolise freedom and style. Small sports cars and elegant coupes were plying the winding roads, while family saloons took on a chic, sophisticated look. It was a time when Mini and Alfa Romeo epitomised driving pleasure, and models like the Jaguar E-Type turned heads wherever they went. On the racetrack, F1 was developing at breakneck speed, with manufacturers like Lotus and Ferrari pushing back the boundaries of technology. Even the music is celebrating the cars - a symbol of an effervescent Europe on the road to modernity. It's hardly surprising that today's designers are revisiting the elegance and charm of the sixties to bring some of that unique character back to modern cars.
