This 1964 Mercedes 230 SL of American origin has 30,438 miles. The seller states that the car is in very good overall condition, and has benefited from recent charges. This Mercedes was imported from Florida to Poland in 2016, where it was fully restored (restoration photos visible in gallery).
Externally, the car is in very good condition. The paintwork, in its recently restored bronze hue, shows only a few visible flaws in the gallery. Exterior plastics and seals are in good condition, as are the headlamps. Photos of the underpinnings are available in the gallery. The seller details the exterior restoration in the following stages:
- application of an anti-rust agent to all surfaces
- application of primer and insulation
- Protective treatment on substructures
- refurbishment of headliner and trunk interior
The interior is in very good condition. The black upholstery is in very good condition. The steering wheel and dashboard are in good condition. The seller specifies that the interior has benefited from the restoration and replacement of numerous elements, replaced by original Mercedes parts. Chrome has been restored. On-board instrumentation and electrical equipment are in normal working order. This Mercedes is fitted with a car radio.
The 2.3-liter 6-cylinder engine developed 150 hp when it left the factory. The seller states that the mechanics work normally, as does the 4-speed manual gearbox. Recently, during its restoration, it benefited from the following charges from a professional engine rebuilder:
- Cylinder rings and piston rings replaced
- Rectified crankshaft and new bearings
- Upper engine reconditioning (rectification of valve surfaces and seats).
- Injection pump rebuilt at an authorized Bosch service center.
- The clutch, pressure plate and transmission bearings have been replaced.
The car has its 4 original rims in good condition, fitted with recent tires (DOT 419). The car brakes normally. The running gear has recently benefited from the following upgrades:
- replace all silentblocs and seals
- brake shoes and cylinders have been replaced
- shock absorber replacement
The seller is a private individual located in Podkarpackie, Poland, and accepts visits during the sale. The car will be sold with Polish registration and Dutch customs clearance.
