Monster Garage :

The principle of Monster Garage is pretty simple. Take a used car in bad shape, hire a team of crazy mechanics and engineers and give them one week and just 3.000 € to transform the car into a "monster". Hosted by the famous Jesse James, this show was a big hit in the 2000s.

Watch one of the episodes from season 1 below. Here, the idea was to turn an old American ambulance into a dragster. The ultimate goal was to succeed in making "Wheelies". The challenge seems to have been reached since this monster is able to do 0 to 100 in 5 seconds!

Pimp my ride

This American show was also well received on the other side of the Atlantic. So much so that it was even taken up in France by the well-known Eric & Ramzi. The idea here was to transform private cars, sometimes in very bad condition, into a totally crazy project. Presented by the famous rapper Xzibit, the show has however suffered from a very bad reputation after its disappearance. Indeed, many participants reported that their cars were often badly repaired and modified in a dangerous way.

Despite this, we let you (re)discover this episode whose format both crazy and kitsch will always make us laugh.

Best Motoring

If you are looking for a totally offbeat show in which vehicles are pushed to their limits, then we have probably got what you need. However, you will have to get used to the Japanese language, even if the commentator contributes to the charm of the show. To summarize, the show consists in comparing 6 to 8 vehicles on the very small circuit of Tsukuba, in Japan of course. We have to admit that watching these drivers battle on this tiny circuit with cars sometimes exceeding 600 horsepower is quite addictive.

Below is an example of one of the many episodes of this show. Others are available on the Youtube channel "Best MOTORing official" and most are subtitled in English.
